| Bio | Our oldest daughter was diagnosed at age 9 after several years of trying to determine what was wrong and getting 2nd and 3rd opinions. She was hospitalized a year later and had several difficult years during middle school and the beginning of high school when depression was the dominant symptom. She graduated from high school with high honors and is now attending college majoring in multimedia and mass communications. Our youngest daughter was diagnosed at age 10 and we've had a difficult time getting lasting stability. She's been hospitalized 3 times and spent 10 weeks at Meridell Achievement Center (a Residential Treatment Center) in Texas. Throughout middles school she continued to struggle with significant and debilitating bouts of depression and anxiety. As a result, school attendance was fragmented with many absences. Since starting high school we've seen far more periods of stability and success academically and socially. We have been trying metabolic interventions since August, 2010 and are slowly seeing some improvements and reduction of pharmaceutical medications. |
