Mothers are indispensible, like it or not. Sure, there are many joys, but mothering a mood-disordered child brings challenges that moms often bear disproportionately.
We bear the brunt of rages and deep despair, probably because our children know it’s safe to let loose with mom—we will always be there, in some fashion.
We are most likely to be the parent who takes charge.
