Learn How to Find and Rate Resources in Your Area
One of the great new features on the The Balanced Mind Foundation website is our "Find a Professional Resource" directory. Whether you are looking for a doctor, school, camp, advocate, support group, or other resource, suggestions are just a few clicks away.
It's easy! Start by clicking this link and type in your zip code and the search radius you desire. Families in rural locations should start with a statewide search, and those living in metropolitan areas should start with a tighter radius. Then, choose the type of resource you desire, or leave this option blank to see all the resources in your area.

Here's how you can help your fellow The Balanced Mind Foundation families.
- Found a good resource not yet listed on the The Balanced Mind Foundation website? Email info@thebalancedmind.org, and we will invite the professional or organization to be listed in our online directory.
- Rate the resources and let other families know what you think of the services. If you find a resource in our directory that you have used, click the "discuss and rate" link to share your feedback (you must be logged in to post feedback.) Please be as descriptive as possible. Instead of writing "Don't use this doctor," write, "Dr. X told me that children cannot have bipolar disorder." Instead of "this school is the best," write, "My son excelled at this school because they understood both his psychiatric illness as well as his learning disabilities." (Anything flagged as inappropriate will be brought to our attention, so please be measured and respectful.)
What if you can't find a resource in our directory? It's sad, but true. There is a severe shortage of child psychiatrists and other treatment professionals in the United States. You can try posting a question on our forums or contact the Family Helpline. That's why it's so important for you to share your knowledge with other The Balanced Mind Foundation families.
