The Balanced Mind Foundation in the News

  • Several The Balanced Mind Foundation parents wrote us concerned about a post on CNN.com by Dr. Charles Raison, Professor of Psychiatry at Emory University, which seemed to blame the parents for a bipolar child’s behavior. Both The Balanced Mind Foundation and the National Alliance on Mental Illness wrote Dr. Raison. We are very pleased with his response which is thoughtful and compassionate, and we are grateful that Dr. Raison has clarified his earlier statements.
  • The Balanced Mind Foundation Executive Director Susan Resko was a guest on Blog Talk Radio.  You can listen to the interview here.
  • Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism student Jordan Turgeon posted a very nice article about The Balanced Mind Foundation here.
  • The Balanced Mind Foundation participated in a project with The Hastings Center, a bioethics research institute, on the controversies surrounding pharmacological interventions for emotional and behavioral disturbances in children. Here is a link to a New England Journal of Medicine's report which calls for drastic reform of the pediatric mental health care system.
