A Birthday Gift You'll Never Exchange

On my last birthday, I threw myself a party. It wasn’t a “big” birthday - I just wanted an excuse to celebrate with my wonderful group of friends. Naturally, everyone asked me, “What do you want for your birthday?” I told my friends that I wanted a gift to The Balanced Mind Foundation made in honor of my son. These donations were some of the most enjoyable gifts I’ve ever received. No silly stuff to store in the house, nothing that had to be returned because it didn’t fit..instead, what I received was a real sense of satisfaction that my friends were helping me to support the cause most near and dear to my heart.

The Balanced Mind Foundation members and volunteers have also recently requested gifts to The Balanced Mind Foundation in honor of their birthdays. Chrisa Hickey, a The Balanced Mind Foundation support group moderator, just turned 43, so her goal was to raise $430 via Causes on Facebook. If you’re an avid Facebook user, you can join the The Balanced Mind Foundation Cause at http://www.causes.com/causes/2432?m=618c3fb4 and then click on the ‘Create a Birthday Wish’ link in the top right of the page. Update your status regularly to encourage your friends to donate. Invite your Facebook friends to join the The Balanced Mind Foundation cause. Encourage your friends who are not on Facebook to donate directly to The Balanced Mind Foundation online or by mail.

If they don’t want to donate online, they can mail a check to us at 820 Davis St, Ste 520, Evanston, IL 60201.
