Our Journey with BiPolar

Our family has recently adjusted, or shall I say I have accepted, the severity of my daughers condition.  In looking for help I searched high and low in the local area only to find limited number of resources, so I turned to the WWW.  There I found thebalancedmind.org and have since become a member of the CPBF after the plethera of information that was at my finger tips along with suggestions from professionals, mothers, families and just an out side perspective to know I'm not alone.  What I found here was hope, the ability to once again pick ourselves up by the boot straps and deal with the situations life throws our ways.

After reading what important steps to take to help my daughter with medication I have started her own individual treatment plan, one that makes me feel a HUGE sence of relief.  We do have control over how her life turns out; we can teach her the skills she is weak in, we can practise it every day with the help of her teachers, her therapist, and her behavior pediatric doctors.  Dispite being 10 and having more Doctor appointments than play dates we are learning together, growing together, creating wonderful memories and an even tigher bond.  (God knows we need those moments to reflect upon during the darkest hours).

We still have a choice, a choice to overcome all adversities.  Adversity may slow us down but they will not stop us from being the best that we can be.

Akathisia is horrible.  I get calls alot from people who are misdiagnosed and have it.  It definitely could be!!  There are Rx out there that can calm it down too.  May have too high of a dose!!

I hope it continues to work though!

Thanks for posting your story. It really opens our minds about bipolar. There are Tx that helps at the same time it does not needs a higher dose to treat. I guess you have to ask your doctors about it.
