My 14 YR old is out of control
He was diagnosed with bipolar and PTSS last year, he was hospitalized the year before for saying thoughts of suicide and he was on medication while there in the ward with other kids like him. He felt at peace there and calm. But shortly after I took him home, he stopped the meds, and refused to go back to treatment and its been over a year since he's done anything to help himself. He's aggressive and threatening, we have had to call the cops on him twice now and all they do is come and tell him to calm down and leave. My daughter is 12 and is afraid of him, I'm afraid of him and it seems no one can help. Everyone I contact requires me to take him down to them but he will not leave. He curses and slams everything around, he causes a nuisance to everyone in the family and I do not know what to do. I don't want to call the cops everytime he does this because I could be evicted from my home but I am at my wits end on this. Does anyone know where we can get some help? I've even asked Human Services and they seem to have no idea's either. I'd rather have him live with a foster parent then here at this point because he is now going through a severe tantrum because he didn't get a cell phone like his sister whose home schooled and we had no other money for two phones and this way I could get in touch with her. For a week now, he's told us all how unimportat we are, banged and cursed at the top of his lungs half the night when I have to be up for work at 3am. I cannot take it anymore. I need help and do not know where to turn. Can anyone help me into the right direction?
Thank you ,
Christine
Please call your local or state mental health agency and see if there is anyone who can come ad do a home assessment. Also you could call 911 and tell them you want him admitted for a psych evaluation. That will at least get you some temporary relief. They will keep him for a bit if he is a danger to himself or others - and if you and your dd are afraid of him, that should qualify. Then you could work with the hospital to help him get more help upon release.
Don't give up on him, but at the same time you need to keep yourself and your daughter safe from him.
Good luck.

BK Daughter 7 BP/violent rages. Unsuccessful with multiple meds. Now reasonably stable for last 2 Months on Intuniv + Restrictive diet + True Hope's EMPowerPlus & AminoPowerplus + low dose lithium. Still working towards getting endocrine and metabolic testing.
Well I did call Social Services and they are coming to do an assessment this week. He's still completely out of control although more now just hateful than violent. He is kinda coming to that plateu if that makes any sense to anyone where he isn't in a violent mood but not good yet and could blow up at the slightest thing. I would call 911 in anything got out of hand but don't want to rely on that either since I could get evicted for causing too many issues. I'm so glad this forum is out there too! I feel less insane now talking to someone who understands because it truly feels like no one does sometimes.

Do let us know how the assessment goes. Do you have a crisis plan for your dd in case the situation becomes dangerous for her? Is there a safe place for her to go?
