Hi Mary, can you elaborate on your question? If you could give us an idea of the medications we could offer some guidance.

Yes I can she is vyvanse 70mg 1 a day, respirdal 1 mg 2 times a day, Triflecta 300 mg 2 times a day, and dexadrine 10mg 1 time a day.

Was she diagnosed bipolar? If so, then the risperidal should be helping. But the Vyvanse and the dexadrine are very likely only making things worse. If she has ADHD in addition to the bipolar, then I would suggest asking your doc about adding a mood stabilizer and eliminating the stimulants - but only under medical supervision. I am not familiar with Triflecta, so I did a search for it and the only link I found was an article about canine compulsive disorder, and when I entered Trifecta 300 mg I was led to a page of links about supplements - either way, I am not qualified to comment on that particular medication.

If you go to this link: http://www.bpkids.org/sites/default/files/treatment_guidelines.pdf you will see the treatment guidelines, including descriptions of medications, published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Yes she was diagnosed with early onset due to her rages triflecta is like tegretol and ive mentioned the vyvanse to me is making it worse which his response was the triflecta just isnt enough. Her rages are getting worse daily though so im sure its vyvanse. He put her on the dexadrine to get her thru her homework he said but her issue isnt a lack of focus its her refusal to do the work all she does is constantly argue with us and say its her life she can make her own choices. Ive told the dr all of this though and he isnt changing anything up ive even made videos to which he didnt want to see.

If it is like tegretal, then that and the risperidol should be sufficient as a place to start. It sounds like a second opinion might be in order. If he is not willing to listen to you, then that tells me his own opinion is more important to him than your observations.

Yeah that is what I was starting to think as well I am happy he finally listened and said bipolar after me repeating the family history numerous times, I know im not a dr at all but I also see her rages increasing and I don't want more harm then good if I can help it. Ill start looking for another dr if possible with her insurance. Sorry for asking so many questions but in Houston it is hard to find child orgranizations easier to find adult ones.

No apology needed here. Good luck finding the new doc ... this might be a good place to start, I've narrowed it down a 20-mile radius of the Houston area ... http://www.bpkids.org/connect/find/results?city=Houston&state=TX&radius=...
