Zyprexa How to Wean off

Has anyone tried to wean their child off of Zyprexa?  What did the dr give for withdrawal symptoms if anything?  In what increments?  What can I expect.

My younger daughter had to abruptly cease the Zyprexa, but there are two things normally done. IF replacing it with another antipsychotic, they start the other immediately, titrating up... or, they may cross-titrate, coming down on one while going up on the other.

If it is not being replaced, we talk a lot about withdrawal on the CAM board - using benzodiazapines, food, suplements, and low stress.

Here is a response I gave to a recent question about it there:

Some of the advice for withdrawal in addition to aminos: consider the use of a benzodiazapine such as Xanax in tiny dosages sporadically to get over the worst parts. Vitamin D, lots of protein with every meal & snack. A "silly one" - dairy-free dark chocolate, and gluten-dairy-soy-free fried chicken. Wanting "comfort foods" is common during withdrawal.

Of course, cut down on  stress during withdrawal. Having no obligations is important.

If anxiety is an issue there are remdies to try such as Hyland's Calms or Bach's Rescue Remedy.

Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often.
Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.
