Can she take benzos? There's also inositol, but I would check that out with the pdoc before trying. It induced mania in a few during the studies, and your dd seems awfully prone to mania.

Can't take inositol, either. Tried that when trying the natural route, which failed us miserably, probably for the same reason traditional meds fail. Brain is wired in such a way as to make treatment very difficult, I guess.

She has not been helped by Ativan or Klonopin. Klonopin made her anger bad enough to rage. I think she tried one other in the benzo family, too.
I am at my wits end, with nothing helping the mania or insomnia. I wish they would try buspirone. I'll just keep calling and they'll just keep trying all of their ideas, but we are getting so tired here.

Buspirone might help, although it is a fairly mild agent. It has been very good for my ds15 in controlling his anxiety and OCD.

Are these panic attacks that come out of the blue, or more like severe anxiety attacks?
My older daughter had anxiety attacks. The only thing the pdoc would prescribe for them was hydroxyzine, which didn't help enough to make her functional. She did CBT and DBT which helped. Raising thyroid levels helped. But of course, the biggest help was stability which made them go away. Getting off foods she turned out to be sensitive to helped her.
My younger daughter would have "panic attacks" that would come out of the blue, and she didn't remember except for the tail end. Her pdoc prescribed lorazepam for these episodes (and other types of "episodes"). Klonopin made her worse. They quit happening when she got better.
--Jeanie aka "Naomi" ItsNotMental-The Book Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often. Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.
We tried inositol with my daughter (10 yrs old). I saw no changes except a negative one at night. She had very restless nights. We are now trying L-theanine (200mg in morning, 200 mg in evening). She has been better, but not perfect regarding anxiety. However, it's only been about 2 weeks so we'll have to see. She also takes Empower plus.

We do diet quite strictly as well as taking food enzymes, probiotics, etc.
