Kaiser pdocs -northern California
I need to find a new Kaiser p-doc for my dd. We're having a huge hassle with her current pdoc who is new to her case and doesn't believe she has bipolar. No other mental health professional has ever doubted it. Does anyone know of a great children's pdoc at any Kaiser in the Bay Area or Northern Califonria in general? I'm getting desperate because this doctor wants to take her off a med that is working for her. Thank you for any advice you might have.

Hi Anne,
My son saw Dr. Diamond out of Folsom CA, also in Rancho Cordova CA. He is known as the "old man of psychiatry”, he is highly respected and has years of expereince. We really liked him, we had to leave due to an insurance change. He does accept that children could possibly have bipolar disorder, but is cautious with diagnosis. We really appreciated that. He started my son on Lithium and we have seen the biggest results thanks to that decision.

Mom of 3 boys, the oldest (10 years) suffering with a "Mood Disorder". Our current psychiatrist believes he suffers from Bipolar 1 Disorder, but he’s too young to make the official diagnosis. He’s currently taking Tenex, Trileptal, Lithium and Melatonin to help.

Dr. Mason Spain Turner will be speaking on "Coming Unglued: The Bipolar Home In Times of Trouble" at our county's NAMI annual Dinner. Dr. Turner is the Chief Psychiatrist Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco. I do not know anything about him except that we have a teaching hospital with a department of psychiatry nearby and that instead of having a doctor from there to speak at the dinner our NAMI is having Dr. Turner travel 75+ miles each way to speak at the dinner.
