Did your child’s IEP testing reveal any learning disabilities?
How does your child handle math?

Mom of 3 boys, the oldest (10 years) suffering with a "Mood Disorder". Our current psychiatrist believes he suffers from Bipolar 1 Disorder, but he’s too young to make the official diagnosis. He’s currently taking Tenex, Trileptal, Lithium and Melatonin to help.

For my son, it wasn't an actual LD that was identified but working memory deficit and other subsets of the executive functions. The schools don't generally provide any interventions for remediation for these problems but at least it helps them see that he's not just being lazy. They can provide accommodations like reduced homework or extra time, and help with organization.
I suspect he also has some issues with writing (I guess with the coordination involved between formulating ideas and words and then calling on the fine motor skills needed to write,) in hindsight I wish I'd asked the psych to test for it but when I brought it up, his teachers said they notice this too and they seem willing to allow him to try using a keyboard instead of writing.
For working memory, I'm considering the Cogmed program for him. I do think this effects his school work quite a bit, especially math now that they're doing work that involves multi-step calculations. Apparently this is a very common deficit for kids with both ADHD and bipolar.
