Withdrawls

My dd is now suffering through terrible withdrawls. It's been 1 week since her last pmeds (Fanapt & Cogentin) and she just gets more & more sick. She started with flu-like sx, then began hallucinating and now has pain "everywhere". She claims that the IWP hurts her stomach, but I did get her to take several doses of aminos & I'm pumping lots of water into her.

I think that she got another candida imbalance because she has mouth sores again, so I put her back on olive leaf extract today. She has also been craving sweet tea (house wine of the South!) by the gallon. I finally put my foot down and poured it all down the drain.

She broke one wrist and sprained the other a few days before Christmas, so the constant pain from that isn't helping the situation, either. Tomorrow she has an MRI to see if there is any tendon damage on the thumb of the broken wrist - I hope she doesn't panic. The True Hope counselor told me that her pain med (Tramadol) is a "red flag" med, but she didn't advise me how to handle it. She has so much pain in her wrists & OTC meds don't even come close to touching it.

Does anyone have any suggestions - something we haven't tried yet? It's getting so hard to "white-knuckle" this transition, but so far we haven't been tempted to throw in the towel and go back to pmeds - yet.

Joyce,

I am not particularly knowledgeable about withdrawal from meds.  But over the years I have seen those who have "white knuckled it" as you are come out the other end.  I am sorry that your daughter is having such a difficult time right now.

Your daughter's broken wrist must be painful.  Hand injuries are particularly painful because there are so many nerves in the hand.  Have you tried a simple pain med like Tylenol with Codeine?   Some people can handle Codeine with few problems.  Others are more sensitive to it.

Remember you can go up quite high on her Inositol dose to deal with anxiety.  --

I wish I had a solution!  I cannot even imagine.  We are going through withdrawals as well.  TH told me to give 3 aminos per hour if needed, also pdoc said 3-4 protein shakes per day.  We use a nondairy.  Does yours have dairy?  That could make it hard on the stomach, esp if she is sentsitive to it.  I would go on the TH message boards and see what pain meds other people have taken without issues.  Also call TH back and ask again about what to do about the pain med.  Hang in there.  We have been white knuckling through as well.  Starting to see little improvements tho since we put Vitamin D on board, granted I doubt it is working that fast, but whatever, I will take it.

Some of the advice for withdrawal in addition to aminos: consider the use of a benzodiazapine such as Xanax in tiny dosages sporadically to get over the worst parts. Vitamin D, lots of protein with every meal & snack. A "silly one" - dairy-free dark chocolate, and gluten-dairy-soy-free fried chicken. Wanting "comfort foods" is common during withdrawal.

Of course, cut down on  stress during withdrawal. Having no obligations is important.

If anxiety is an issue there are remdies to try such as Hyland's Calms or Bach's Rescue Remedy.

Question... any possibility your dd has thin bones?

Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often.
Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.
