Wild Yam and Chaste Tree

Our daughter has started taking this for hormone balancing. But she is lately in a near constant state of manic agitation.
Could this herbal combination actually worsen moods and make someone more irritable, rather than working to help with mood stabilization?
Any experience with this?
Thanks.
Nothing working here.

I looked them up and I don't see any direct reason why they should cause mania. However, we know that female hormones can definitely affect mood states, and by taking these herbs you are altering her hormone levels. I am thinking it is harder to regulate hormones with these supps than it would be with synthetic hormones. Is her gyn or pdoc willing to prescribe BC to address these issues?

Isn't Wild Yam supposed to (reputedly) slightly increase estrogen level?
Vitex or Chaste tree berry (which the doctor had my younger daughter taking premenstrually) "acts on the hypothalamus and pituitary glands by increasing luteinizing hormone (LH) production and mildly inhibiting the release of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). This results in a shift in the ratio of estrogen to progesterone, with a rise in progesterone. The ability of chaste tree berry to raise progesterone levels in the body is an indirect effect, so the herb itself is not a hormone."
Some of our kids actually are already estrogen dominant. I kind of doubt this is causing mania, but you can always ask the doctor about stopping it to see. Sometimes I simply can't know something for sure until we start and stop it more than once. For instance, I tried a food and had severe diarrhea, and stopped. But how can I know if I had intestinal problems that went away that was totally unrelated to the food? I tried it again. Same thing. I won't be trying that again.

Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often.
Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.
