Wheatgrass????

http://www.wheatgrasskits.com/40pointsofwheatgrass.htm

Heard about this on one of my GFCF autism sites.  It looks like it has detoxification for metals, Brandon's is bad for arsenic, digestion, his vitamin levels are all low bc he cannot absorb, and it looks like it would be helpful for the strep antibodies.  It does not have gluten.  Anyone ever heard of it?  Brandon's IgG came back high for wheat and gluten so IDK if it is even a possibility for him.  I was thinking I could easily put powder in his protein shakes.

I've used it in the past with good results and from these articles it looks as if it would be fine to use on a GF diet.  Hope Brandon can use it and that it works.

My big concern is that his IgG came back high for both wheat and gluten. I emailed the lab to ask them what component they use in testing.

Wheatgrass has no gluten - it is not the grain, it is just the young grass.

Funny - I just read an article about it in a Health & Wellness magazine yesterday. It said wheatgrass "has to be cultivated carefully and harvested at the jointing stage when the content of enzymes, chlorophyll, and other nutrients is at its peak."  I've watched it being juiced with the special wheat-grass juicer at the health-food store when I ordered it. It is a lot of grass and a lot of work for that little shot-glass of juice. But it is very healthy. The article says it is one of the richest source of calcium, iron, sulfur, magnesium, potassium, zinc, cobalt, protein, vitamins A, C, E, K, and B complex. It has powerful antioxidants, and anticancer agents.  It is antibacterial and is alkaline (this is wonderful, and is what everyone trying to beat cancer strives for) -- helping to detoxify the lymph and blood cells, which in turn helps transport the toxins out of the body. It helps the kidneys, liver, and urinary tract. It boosts the immune system.

Hmmm... maybe I should get myself over for a dose from the health-food store since I am right now having yeast die-off symptoms (I am on fluconazole).

30ml of freshly squeezed wheat grass juice is equivalent to 1 kg of green leafy vegetables!

It contains long-chained amino acids and is nearly 50% protein.

Then the article said what you are interested in: It helps remove toxics such as cadmium, mercury, nicotine, and other heavy metals from the body.

And the list goes on... It has 92 of the 102 minerals from the soil and contains all the vitamins science has isolated. And more.

It's Not Mental
Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often.
Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.

I really need to ask the doc about it.  I know that it has no gluten, but his IgG was positive for plain wheat, which makes me a little nervous.  Apparently three weeks of this stuff cured a few kids on my GFCF site.

What I have read is wheatgrass is a "vegetable". Wheat is a "grain". The problem arises when we buy a product of "grasses" that may actually be contaminated with the grains. I would not feel safe from a store-bought bottle of something containing wheatgrass because it could be contaminated with the grain.

But of course, whenever we are in doubt, best to ask the doctor! :-)
