Update on first pdoc visit

Ok, so we made it to CO and back to see Dr. Shannon at the Wholeness Center!  We also saw the ND there, Dr. Rondeaux.  The ND dx Hilary with nuritional deficiency and Dr. Shannon the integrative pdoc dx her with mood disorder NOS and ODD.  The ND suspects that yeast may be a problem and that the overall stomach/intestinal "environment" is probably not great. He is concerned about her weight as well, she has been at 32 lbs for over a year and she's 4 and a half yrs old.  He also thinks there may be things going on with her immune system.  He ordered urine (organic acids test;to test for yeast and other stuff) and blood work to test for carnitine, lipids, iron, food sensitivities, allergy panel (I think for environmental stuff), and a CBC.  He said that the reason we did not see great results from diet changes and supps in the past may be due to underlying issues.  So we can't wait to get the labs back.

Treatment Plan

Inositol: 2 grams 3x a day

Digestive Enzymes: 1 capsule 3x a day

Omega 3: 250 mg 1x a day

Liquid Minerals of Life: 1Tb 1x a day

Melatonin: 0.5mg at bedtime

Dr. Shannon did not start her on EMP.  He said he wanted to start off with the least amount of supps for mood, anxiety, OCD and then work up if needed.  He said we could get a good baseline and of course it would be less expensive so we were all for that.  We started only the Inositol the day after the appointment and everything else 4 days after.  We noticed immediate and drastic positive results from the Inositol!  Other family members commented on the major difference in her behavior as well.  She is much calmer, much less anxiety and oppositional behavior.  We were already taking Kavinace for sleep but it never made her sleepy; it would always take her awhile to calm down and fall asleep, but the Kavinace kept her asleep through the night for the most part.  With adding the melatonin she actually gets sleepy and falls asleep easier now.  The bedtime dose of Inositol also has a calming affect.  The docs did not seem concerned about anything with her continuing the Kavinace and said that if the Kavinace wasn't working well enough by itself to add the melatonin.  I still may see how she does off the Kavinace with just melatonin and Inositol; for one the Kavinace is pretty expensive and some people have reported becoming addicted but Hil does not seem to have that issue at this point in time.  Another piece of proof that the Inositol is really working is that Hil had to be off all supps for 24 hrs to do blood/urine labs.  We noticed a total regression and breakdown in her behavior but it wasn't as bad as before the inositol.

We have to have a yearly face to face visit with the docs at the Wholeness Center and will do phone consults in between.

Sounds great!  That is wonderful that you were able to go all the way out there!  I am hiping that it continues to help.  We have not had the aminos drawn yet bc the pdoc said she did not think Brandon could go for 24 hours without them.

Thanks Kim

I told dh that I'm scared to get too excited too fast!  Hopefully Brandon will be able to do the aminos draw soon.
