Probiotics
I've been giving Taylor a probiotic. Will this alone kill the yeast if she has too much? About four days after giving it, her stomach started hurting (diarrhea...I know, TMI) and she felt like she had the flu.
Anyway, my question is if a probiotic is enough?

Hmm, it actually sounds kinda die off yeasty to me, but Brandon still had no die off reaction. I suppose if it is a really, really good probiotic, it may have done the job? Did you start the EMP yet?

I haven't started the EMP yet because I haven't talked to them yet. I tried calling them last night, but they weren't there...I'll call during office hours on Monday and see how many I should start giving her, etc.
She is really excited and hopeful about it. Me too!
Edited to add: I was just reading about yeast die off reaction and it says one of the symptoms is diarrhea, flu like symptoms and BODY ITCH! I hope that is true because she has complained of itching so badly for the past two days. We've tried everything to stop it...maybe it's a good thing?

I would say it is probably a good thing. Sounds like a good probiotic. What one are you using?

The addition of supplements like Kyolic garlic, olive leaf extract or capryl will speed up the yeast elimination faster than probiotics alone. My dd had a terrible yeast imbalance and the die-off process was pretty intense. Her skin erupted with small ulcers, but healed pretty quickly. She's doing well now. Kudos to you for getting the yeast balanced BEFORE starting EMP+ - you've made the transition to CAMs much easier for your dd by doing this.

For at least my older dd, the probiotics worked better to kill the yeast than the OTC meds for it! For me, it did not do much for the yeast.

Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often.
Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.
Does anyone have knowledge about the probiotic S. boulardii ? I used it ( Florastor brand) to treat C diff ( a really nasty intestinal infection that i got after treatment in hospital for a wound infection.) I have been wondering if it helps with GI Candidiasis because unlike other probiotics this one is itself a yeast ( a beneficial one) so it seems thatit might compete and help eliminate and / or prevent candida.

Yes, I know about it. What I remember from a medical conference is :
It is very effective at HELPING the other probiotics gain foothold and fluorish in the gut, but it, itself does not colonize the gut. It is gone from the gut after about 4 days, so you may want to continue taking it while taking the probiotics. Mine is kept in the refrigerator along with my bottle of regular probiotics.

I've been giving DS Capryl and we've experienced pretty bad die-off symptoms like those mentioned here...itchy skin, flu-like complaints and tummy trouble with "diet poop" as DS calls it ;) That is behind us now and I'd like to transition him to a probiotic and found one approved by Feingold. Is it best to stop giving him the capryl and start the probiotic or do I give him both in the same day? I wanted to do this on the weekend where we don't have to worry about reactions at school. We just do not need one more thing going on there. Thanks in advance for the advice!
