New On Empower Plus

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and have a question about the Empower Plus. My daughter started taking the capsules 2 days ago and on the first day had bad stomach pains already. 2nd day was even worse and ended up keeping her home from school today. Not sure if this is from the vitamins or if she happens to be getting the stomach bug at the same time. Did anyone have this issue and what did you do to help it.

Are you giving it with food?  Maybe start with one cap and work your way up?  We have no issues here.

Empower can irritate the stomach initially.  The key is to take it after a meal.  Also start with one capsule at each meal rather than two capsules at the same time.  If your child has any yeast issues Empower can exagerate them and that might also be contributing to her stomach pain.  Yeast particularly likes Empower and it is not unusual for people who have a tendancy for yeast issues to have those issues get worse if they start taking Empower.  Improving gut health by limiting sugar and starches and taking a  a probiotic will help with her overall gut health.  Some people do a course of Olive Leaf Extract to help kill off any extra yeast in the body.  You might want to talk to the folks at Truhope about this.  Are you working with a doctor?.--

Oh boy so I am doing this all wrong it seems. I am giving them to her with food BUT True hope said give her 4 first day, 8 second day, and 12 the 3rd day so I just assumed and have her 4 at once. I guess that was way to much. Ok I am going to give her a probiotic and one capsule at a time and start off with 1 or 2 a day.

thank you so much for the help!!

You do not need to go back to one, you could just drop each dose by one and see how her body handles it and if it still bothers her drop another one.  You may want to consider breaking up the doses more to four times a day as well.  Olive Leaf Extract is good and I highly recommend picking some up.  It is all trial and error.  Make sure you get a good probiotic as well!

My older daughter had a LOT of trouble stomaching them. She may be one of the extreme cases (I am sure there are much more extreme than hers) but she could not tolerate them unles she took them on a FULL stomach, and full of just vegetables did not cut it. She HAD to have carbohydrates and/or meat in that stomacheful in order to handle the pills. You can see why she was motivated to slowly taper down the EmPowerPlus after she healed, and was pleased to be able eventually to get off them, except for the couple she added back as a vitamin.

Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often.
Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.

So when you say stomach trouble...do you mean pain or nausea?  My EMP "should" arrive today for my daughter...however, I did start her on some Omega 3 and a probiotic.  They past few days she has complained about her stomach really hurting.  I was wondering if it could be from the vitamins??

A little worried about the EMP.  Although a little stomach pain is nothing compared to the side effects of pmeds.

Nausea. Vomiting. She would throw it up.
