GABA helpful for relaxing?

Our old nurse had my daughter try Pharma GABA to help with her nerves during the daytime.

Our daughter gave conflicting reports as to whether or not it helped the way she felt - nervous and anxious.

Has anyone had any good help from using natural GABA?

Thanks.

I can only say that GABA is part of NUTRASLEEP, which was quite helpful (along with some other things) to help my daughters sleep.

It's Not Mental
Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often.
Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.

My husband struggles with anxiety.  GABA makes a big difference for him.  It even comes in a sublingual form that is pretty fast acting.  Tdoc says her family takes it when they start to feel a little stressed.  As far as I understand, GABA helps the brain shift gears when it is stuck.  So, when an anxious thought keeps circling, the GABA helps move on to something else.

I wonder if the SL form would be more effective than the p.o. form.  I remember reading somewhere that GABA was not absorbed much at all from the gut--very little makes it to the brain.  Who knows though, maybe it works on the nervous system in the gut...

Brandon's pdoc gave us 2 packs of 2 capsules of GABA today.  She said that it is only really able to reach the brain if there is a leaky blood/brain barrier and the dose she gave us should make Brandon feel tired.  Well he felt spacy and drugged so IDK what to make of that.
