Depression-decreasing EMP-making worse????

Ok yesterday we started decreasing the EMP to 4 three times per day and increased the Aminos to 5 twice a day.  Brandon is such a rapid metabolizer.  Today he is like extremely irritable.  Could he be reacting from the decrease EMP already?  Should we have increased it instead?  I am so confused and the fact that Brandon metabolizes things like ten times faster than the average person, it is just more confusing.  He was sick with a cold for only half the day yesterday.  Dh and I both had it and it lasted for 4 days, but for some reason Brandon was able to recover within a day.  Also, he can fight his Night Rest (melatonin and gaba stuff) and force himself to stay up, which I caught him doing a couple nights ago.  I do not get why he does this bc it causes him so many issues during the day.  IDK why stuff does not just knock him out.  We see pdoc on Wednesday.  Will post all the tests that have been done to get some feedback on what else we should do.

Kim,

A few thoughts.  First we often had very quick reactions to Empower dose changes.  Our son also metabolizes medications rather quickly.  As I mentioned Brandon might need more than 3 doses a day if this is the case.  Our son needs four doses of Empower to cover him throughout the day.  We basically figured this out by charting when we saw more irritability and noting a pattern.

Viruses can sometimes consume the Empower, resulting in somebody needing more for a brief period of time.  We had this as well.  But because our son was so sensitive to dose changes we often would just tolerate the irritability and hold the Empower dose the same and eventually our son would reset.  It is less of an issue now that he has been on the Empower for a while.

How many four times per day?  I have not noticed anything as far as certain times a day, usually evening is the roughest, but he does get his dinner dose and most of our kids struggle in the evening.  Dh thinks that Brandon may be starting to head to mania.  Last night he sat still for only about 30 minutes playing his favorite game Monoploy, then he was all over the place.  He can sit and play that for hours normally.  I have not seen any other signs tho.  We are having our typical clean day issues, not wanting to do it, but he finally started, I think.

Kim,

FYI my son is 6'2" and about 180 lbs.  He takes somewhere between 6 and 7 pills four times a day.  Remember he also takes 1 mg of LIthium which each dose.  We noticed that dinner time was often a struggle for our son.  He would often get irritated at dinner and so our pdoc is the one who suggested after we went over when our son was  taking his doses that we add a fourth dose in the afternoon.  We did and much to our surprise dinners got easier.   Our son no longer got super irritated with his younger brother at the table and found it easier to be with the family.--
