Celiac
So...went to pediatrician today. They are referring us to a neurologist and cardiologist to see why these seizures are happening.
Blood tests being run to check for all sorts of things...including hormone levels and thyroid. Dr. is almost positive Taylor has polycistic ovarian disorder. Scheduling an appointment for next week to get ultrasound done.
Taylor gets sick (dizzy, shaky, I've noticed the "absent seizures too) after eating. I'm reading where this is a common symptom of celiac?? I know there are several on here with it...what symptoms did you see? Also, as we already know...it can cause anxiety and depression.
I am a firm believer...now more than ever, that Taylor's "mental" problems are NOT MENTAL!!! HEY...didn't somebody write a book about that!? :) I am so thankful for finding this website and especially this forum...and thank you, Naomi for your book. Without it, I would not have looked into ANY of this and written this all off as psychiatric.

IDK of Celiac causing seizures. I looked up Trazadone and this is what I saw:
Trazodone may cause a condition that affects the heart rhythm (QT prolongation). QT prolongation can infrequently result in serious (rarely fatal) fast/irregular heartbeat and other symptoms (such as severe dizziness, fainting) that need medical attention right away. The risk of QT prolongation may be increased if you have certain medical conditions or are taking other drugs that may affect the heart rhythm. Before using trazodone, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all the drugs you take and if you have any of the following conditions: certain heart problems (heart failure, slow heartbeat, QT prolongation in the EKG), family history of certain heart problems (QT prolongation in the EKG, sudden cardiac death).
Low levels of potassium or magnesium in the blood may also increase your risk of QT prolongation. This risk may increase if you use certain drugs (such as diuretics/"water pills") or if you have conditions such as severe sweating, diarrhea, or vomiting. Talk to your doctor about using trazodone safely.
Then under overdose sxs
The most severe reactions reported to have occurred with overdose of DESYREL (trazodone hydrochloride) alone have been priapism, respiratory arrest, seizures, and EKG changes. The reactions reported most frequently have been drowsiness and vomiting. Overdosage may cause an increase in incidence or severity of any of the reported adverse reactions (see ADVERSE REACTIONS).
The EMP is intensifying what is left of the Trazadone and the Trazadone and the heart issues is what is causing the seizures, from what I am reading. Whey Protein shakes 2-4 times per day will help, and if not possible, you can do aminos every hour. The protein binds with the medication in the blood stream and help the body get rid of it. Please, please consider this! I am still shocked that the pdoc gave her this!!!!

I can't believe it either...or the fact that I didn't research it better.
She had problems with her prolonged QT before...so much that they considered a pace maker. Then it got better, so I'm sure the trazodone just intensified it enough that it is causing the seizures. She always says her heart feels really weird, like it's not beating right lately.
I posted too quickly. I didn't mean that celiac could cause seizures...but maybe her feeling sick after eating?
I did get some whey protein isolate...I will start giving it to her regularly. Wonder how long it will take to get out of her system.
I need to get all the gluten out of her system and see what happens. Need to do some research on what all foods I should avoid.
I'll try to call this weekend, Kim!! Thanks!

Some of the most common culprits are gluten and dairy. Some need to get off ALL GRAINS. My older daughter is one of those people, although so far she seems fine with Quinoa even though that is a grain. But she has no wheat, barley, rye, corn, rice, or oats. And no cow dairy, although after giving her gut some time to heal she has found she doesn't go crazy from goat dairy. We do use buckwheat, which is NOT a grain.

It's Not Mental-Random Tips
Older dd: formerly(?) teen-onset bipolar (morphed into ultradian cycling): "Recovered" after over 13 years - stable off psych meds almost two years. Now fine on just diet changes and higher thyroid levels (after healing - addressing gut issues/Candidal overgrowth while using EMPowerPlus and other supplements). She added a little EMpowerPlus back on as a multivitamin simply because she feels better on it - gets sick less often.
Younger dd: formerly(?) Childhood-onset schizoaffective, TS, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, migraines. After over 15 years, is now "recovered" for almost 5 years after treating endocrine issues, food sensitivities, gut issues, sleep issues, nutritional/mitochondrial needs.
I bought brown rice today...I guess we'll see??
Also found gluten free oats, thought I could make some kind of cookie or snack out of them. Suppose it will be hit or miss for awhile. Tough adjustment for all of us! Everything is made out of grains!!
