Mindless self indulgences

Please treat yourself to at least one mindless self indulgence this weekend! So what's your favorite? I listed mine.

Ideas:

  • Watch the sunrise with a cup of your favorite tea or coffee
  • Watch the sunset with a small glass of wine
  • Have your toenails painted, get the nail art, with the newest bling (sparkles) and 4th of July theme
  • Buy an individual dessert just for you and eat it after everyone goes to bed or is out of the house
  • Smile or compliment a person who looks they need it at least once this weekend at the bank, super market, etc
  • Watch a favorite movie you haven't seen an ages
  • Make a favorite dinner for you and your spouse to enjoy. Something you haven't made often since being a parent
  • Run an errand, by yourself, and take your time, listen to your favorite music
  • Go for a quiet walk
  • Happy 4th All!

So these were the mindless self indulgences I partook in this weekend:

    •  Got my toenails painted, get the nail art, with the newest bling (sparkles) and 4th of July theme
    • Complimented the president of a local university ( He probably doesn't hear it enough)
    • Ate the rest of my mother-in-law's famous potato salad before my husband got to it

Not much but it is a start. I gotta take care of me since I'm busy taking care of everyone else.

Oh and BTW my DH is taking my DD camping and I get to stay home! Yeah!!

Mindless indulgences. Absolutely necessary if you live in our family! A few years back it was reading Harry Potter, this last year it was reading the Twilight series... so yummy. Like eating candy. Good escape lit. Also gardening. Pulling weeds is mindless - I can do it for hours. Lose myself in it. Good dirt, sweat and accomplishment built right in. Love it! Also, following blogs-- (not BP related) my fave is "The Pioneer Woman".com --- I want to be her! Watching True Blood via Netflix is also up there. Totally mindless escape TV. Or Buffy the Vampire Slayer (We, ahem, OWN the series).

Nice to hear others found some time to sneak in a few quiet moments away from it all over the weekend?

How did that old commercial go "Calgon Take Me Away"?, TEE HEE! I need a whole boat load of Calgon or something (wink) somedays!

what ARE my indulgences?  wow, I don't treat myself to much very often.  I used to, but my daughter takes up so much of my time.  Let me think....

    * window shopping at the mall, auntie anne's pretzels, and a new pair of sunglasses

    * chillin on facebook with my few friends after the kids go to bed

    * a hot bubble bath with lights out and candles all over, I could fall asleep in there and have

    * a new magazine, even if it is an old edition from the library, it's new to me

    * painting

    * looking thru old photo albums

    * I always do my own pedicures, complete with extravagant nail art and rhinestones.  =)

    * sitting outside my apartment at the picnic table in the night silence.

A day in bed with freshly laundered linens, a good book, and peace and quiet! Too bad I'm beginning to feel better!
