ME. I want to talk about ME!
Yes, please! Almost three years into my son's onset and full on BP and various other letter combinations, and well into our first year of homeschool (agh), I decided to try the blog thing -- but not about BP. Anything BUT BP. Being isolated so much of the time does lend itself to blogging, so I started one on my home renovation. We bought a CONVENT five years ago, with a chapel! Yes, nuns lived here. it's been a whacky ride. BP does not lend itself to renovating a home, as we seem to take one step forward, then three steps back - patching drywall, fixing broken windows, repairing broken... something. Whatever hapened to be in his way! It's tough, but I have to find my fun again, and this blog is helping a bit. I'd LOVE if ya'll could stop by some time -- leave me a note. We moms have to do something for ourselves sometimes--- that's probably the best lesson I've learned here. That, and read "The Explosive Child.
Thanks everyone---- http://thegatheringarea.com/
PS-- I just realized my sig line says I'm 40. Funny, just like my license says I weigh 110 pounds. I think I'll keep it that way :)

Brenda and "Naomi"---
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I am absolutely thrilled to get any feedback... it has been tooooo toooo long since I devoted time to my passion: decorating - which really is gathering things - hence The Gathering Area, that's http://thegatheringarea.com/ by the way :)
Since I was a kid, I collected, collaged, scrap-booked (who knew it would be so popular) arranged and re-arranged. I think it has to do with coming from a modest home life -- I had to make do with the little I had. Still do. Damn, health care is expensive... can I get an AMEN! I can't buy every stick of furniture or accessory I want, so I re-arrange what I have, til I make it look better-- different. Soooooo many times, I am just hiding a freshly punched hole in the wall, or a broken window pane. So, it's a lot about camouflaging. Distraction. Look over there! See how pretty that vase is! You barely even notice the crack in it...
Anyway-- thanks!
I'm hanging onto 41, by a thread, BTW.

I have always been a rearranger, too. I guess I don't like stasis, and I am quite a nester. Everywhere I have lived my whole life I have been able to make it feel like home. I love the convent, btw. Even with the odd decor, I bet it's awesome!

41....your a baby. We remodeled our home when our son was in middle school. Fortunately we did not live in the house when we were doing it. But upon return it was quite upsetting to see things get dinged and dented.
I remember our architect and contractor saying to our DH and I that we seemed so calm about everything. We were. Because compared to the battle we were fighting with the school about our BP son the renovation was no big deal.
Keep writing. It's great. I am an artist and I created quite an interesting body of work during some of the challenging years with my son. Eventually my son required so much time and energy from me that even my art shut down. But now that he is doing well and off at college I am returning to my art.
